I am drawn to Doreen Massey’s ideas of space as relational and shaped by interactions, histories, and stories, and I am keen to explore how these concepts resonate within craft practices. While craft and ceramics form a significant aspect of my creative expression, they are not my sole focus. I also work with painting, where I experience a freedom to create visual joy that contrasts sharply with the disciplined, time-honored techniques of ceramics. Currently, I cannot reconcile these two forms of expression—the structured act of making and the uninhibited creativity of painting—and this tension is central to my proposed exploration. I hope to use this MA to delve deeper into how time, family, history, survival, and material practice intersect, and to find ways of connecting these distinct creative approaches.
